happy birthday little man
A year ago today you entered the world bright red yet staring at me with those almond eyes. Your head was long and misshapen from the birth, and your lungs were working hard to try to breathe properly. You eventually had to spend a little over a week in the NICU to get ready for the world.
Ready you are.
You can say “Ma ma and da da” along with many other consonants – Ga, Go, Gu, Tsu, Ts, S, Na, No, Doo, Do, etc…
You can pull up and stand unsupported.
You crawl everywhere. There are often races of me running to close a cabinet prior to you reaching the unforbidden area.
You sleep through the night. Bliss.
You have a little bit of a temper. You have some personality coming through.
You wave hi and bye.
You can blow a kiss, almost.
You point to things you want.
You have tantrums, sometimes.
You are a nursing champion!
You like to eat what momma is eating.
You cry for both momma and daddy. I’m glad to see that you’ve bonded with hubby as well as me.
You are not a big eater. Hmm… not like his mother!
You squint your eyes when looking at someone sometimes. It’s really different in that I cannot figure out what you are thinking or what it means.
I’m glad to celebrate this wonderful birthday with you, little man. What a wonderful year it has been…
fall walks begin
It’s the time of year I love, the changing of the seasons, and the crisp smell in the air. I do not like that fall ushers in winter, but I will enjoy the next three months as well as possible. I’ve been on many walks in the past couple of weeks still trying to lose more weight. I will say that having a baby really does change your body. Breastfeeding keeps you from getting too aggressive with working out unless of course you are one of the lucky with a small chest. I can barely walk fast much less run as I would like. Walking works though. Decrease the caloric intake and stroll. Weight will come off.
Here’s little man this past weekend. What a sweetie he’s become. He can now put his feet in his mouth, sit up unsupported (not 100%), roll over, and babbles constantly.

Happy 3 months…
Time flies as it always does. Our baby is 3 months old. Some nights he’s out by 9pm and others 11pm. We’ve still not subscribed to any of the sordid books out there of parenting… still parenting by instinct, and I think it’s working! The main goal I have is to incorporate him into our life; not change our life around a schedule that restricts us from going out to eat, visiting with friends, or staying up late. There will come a time though when he will either be able to fall asleep wherever he is OR be the type of baby that HAS to be at home in his bed to sleep well. So far he’s the former, but I predict he’ll be the latter in a couple of months.
I stared at him in his bassinet last night as I was falling asleep. It won’t be long and he will have outgrown it, and it truly makes my heart grow sad. I had always said from day one that he would be moved to his room at 3 months. Now it’s when he’s outgrown his bassinet. I tell him every night to stop letting time fly so fast, but he isn’t listening. He can hold his head up longer now and can hold up his chest when on his belly. He’s mesmerized by music and lights, and he loves his Baby Einstein gym that a friend of ours bought him.
I sometimes think he may be lactose intolerant as he’s extremely gassy (man farts, as I like to say), but it’s nothing to stop pumping or nursing for…
I’m working on more days of nursing and less days of pumping. So far, he seems to be getting it, but I’m waiting on my LC to get back in town so that I can get him to weigh him and see how much he can transfer at this point. I’m guessing 2 oz… right on track for a newborn; a little late for him but better late than never.
We start the process today interviewing nannies for our son. He’ll need one on Tuesdays and Fridays only as my job is just upstairs next to his bedroom, and I work from home. Sweet huh? I’m going to work 30-32 hours a week which will at least keep us from being on such a tight budget.
I really want a Beco Butterfly Baby carrier. Hopefully can get one pretty soon… just haven’t caved on buying it yet… they are over $100.
Our son is making noises now. He sounds like he is cooing and enjoying life. He does a laugh that resembles a rooster or a chicken. He’s grabbing things and attempting to put them in his mouth.
… I should have done this years ago…
